V6 Petrol Fault Code Reference Source

Post by apole » Fri Jan 15, 2010 3:24 pm

Hi guys,

Found a website that firstly tells you how to get the error code out of the ECU by bridging the relevant pins on the diagnostics port.

If you then go to the next page you can put that code in, hit a button and it will tell you what it means.

Could be useful if the time comes:

Looks interesting Andy. Isn't the 929 engine just the illustrative example? At a quick scan, I inferred that their sotware can cover most Japanese motors, including presumably other Bongo engines - or have I got that wrong?

Any relevance to this: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=37073?

Any idea of cost, and are you considering purchasing, or is it just noted for reference? Again, isn't this something to make Bongo-friendly garages aware of, and/or for the Bongo Shop to handle (or even hire out)?

Hello there,

No, tbh I was just thinking whilst warming up (been outside for a while) that it would be great to get hold of a code reader for my car. My LPG specialist has one that works so I know they exist and thought I'd try my luck at finding a bargain !!!

The guy that is helping with that thread has developed some pretty cool looking software for the Suzuki Vitara, be great if he could do the same for the bongo but I'm not going to ask, I suspect that would take an age.

On reading this site it did indicate that it was mazda 929 specific (they used this car as the example), thought it may prove useful to someone if they did have an issue.

On the V6, there are 2 ECU's, both are different from the diesel version discussed on that other thread. I'm no expert here on this by any means but by simply looking at the number of wires going into them you can tell they are very different, which is no surprise as they are different engines.

From looking at overseas mazda forums you do tend to pick up bits of info, the 2 ecus for example, one is for the engine, the other for the gearbox.

A useful place if you are cold and passing the time is http://forums.mazdaworld.org, look under 929.

Now I'm warm again I guess I should continue with my work list

Good to escape sometimes for a break.

Andy
