Fuel pump seals still leaking

Post by Bongo.Baz.tard » Sun Jan 10, 2010 7:13 pm

After me feeling all smug about doin' my fuel pump seals #-o . I am still not back on the road .
The pump seals are still leaking from what seems to be the front seal. If you prime it with fuel at the banjo filter then turn it over it all just disappears out. NO FUEL SEEMS TO BE GETTING THROUGH AT ALL. Just turning over.
Could the pump be leakin' some where else? or is there something worse afoot  Like the pump failing altogether . it was running alright before but i was coming home from work before xmas and it just conked out on the way home. It wouldn't start at all at first but after a few attempts it started and i got home, It was on inspection at home that i noticed the leak. So changed the seals.
I AM STILL RECOVERING FROM FROSTBITE FROM MY FIST ATTEMPT #-o So iv'e been putting off going back to remove the front cover again but i was pretty sure the seal was seated properly the first time  Maybe not . But any views on this much appreciated

By front seal do you mean the one behind the drive belt? If so that is the negative side of the pump (sucking fuel in). You could try fitting a low pressure pump before the IP as a keep you running for now solution.

Which seal do you think is leaking?

The seal behind the domed cover at the front not the seal behind the plate at the back in the photos you posted
a while back. Ive just replaced both but its still leakin' would it be coming from somewhere else. It feels and looks (from what i can make out) as if it is this seal, the easy one to get at.
I dont remeber using the highlighter :P
