The reason for the question:
My 4WD Bongo came with the standard set-up of 215s on the back & 195s on the front - but fairly cheap ones. Oh and a Japanese 205 on the full-size spare

I'd planned to replace all 5 with 215s for the usual reasons. ie Simplicity of replacement with the spare in the event of a puncture & a long drive ahead and the ability to rotate the tyres to keep the wear even & protect my viscous coupling.
In practice the rears wore down to 3mm, while the fronts have hardly worn though, so the ability to rotate the tyres may not be much of an issue.
Back to the original question.....
I replaced the rears just before christmas with Quatrac 2 215s, but they only had 2 in stock, so the question of what size to put on the fronts was delayed until new stock (probably Quatrac 3's) is in Jan/Feb. I'm still half minded to put 215s on the front for the puncture issue, but a fair amount of my driving is done on remote roads that have more than their fair share of snow. The Bongo has performed faultlessly over the last 2 winters, and I'm wondering if having the wider profile on the front might reduce the steering effectiveness in snow? I'm also thinking that, if the wider rear tyres start slipping, then maybe the narrower profile on the front will give better traction.
What's the snow experience of those with 4WDs fitted with 215s all round?
