New front / rear drop links

Post by catzi » Sun Jan 03, 2010 6:00 pm

My front drop links need changed as I'm starting to notice the 'clonks' more and more. Figure I'll change the rear ones at the same time as a bit of prep for the next year.

Question: Is there anything else I (and when I say I, I mean my local garage) should do at the same time e.g. other bushes etc that don't come with the drop links?

Also, is there any merit to buying genuine as opposed to pattern parts?

Cheers guys.

Iain

I'd buy genuine or via the shop here, and also do the anti roll bar bushes and brackets.

Maybe I got lucky but the Vectra front droplinks I bought from my (now closed down  ) local motor factors are now 2yrs old and appear sound as a pound. Thinner rod/strut than the proper ones but - has Kirsty (Missfixit) has said - when problems have struck it is with the bushes, not the struts/rods (I seem to recall some of the problem ones were of the thick rod/strut variety).

Oh well, have ordered front/rear drop links, anti-roll brackets and bushes. Hopefully no more clonking soon!
