Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
Hi everyone,
I am a bit lost with this, and I am going to try and explain as best as possible, but the thing is that for going throught the Spanish MOT I need a "Ficha técnica reducida" wich translated will be like a "Reduced/abreviated technical data sheet". On a normal car you should be ok to ask the producer of the vehicle to provide you with one, or you can get a licensed engeneer to make and sign you one.
I was wondering it anyone has ever seen something like this for a Ford Freeda, as it is the last requirement I need to be able to take it to Spain with me and go through the Spanish MOT and get it registered in Spain (also dealing with lights but I am already on that subject) as without this piede of paper they won't let me do the ITV (spanish MOT).
Any help will be very welcomed and if someone doesn't understand what I mean please just ask and I will try to explain it better.
Thanks very much in advance.

Yes, I couldn link just the pdf file to show and example. I will remove the link in case it is not right to put it there.
I am trying to find the way to get this without paying over a thousand pounds to a company, that is why I am asking here before I go though any company.

Hi Aitami
Could you find out the information that they require, and provide it in certified or notarised/ signed form yourself?....The car is already registered in the EU, as it is English registered, so all specifications have already been examined before licencing here. I believe the main issues with any car is that it must comply with emission controls set by each country, and the HP/ Kilowatt rating for taxation. I think there are companies offering to help you with so-called paperwork in every country...I was told that I would have to use such a company here....at a cost of 4,500 euros.....I believe that some lawyers even thought I couldn't avoid it....BUT...if you do a bit of digging around in Spain, you will find a forum of English Ex-patriates who will gladly help. I think that if you check from within Spain when you get there, you will find hat you can keep your car there for quite a time without re-registering.....I know Foreign nationals who have kept a car in England for ages...same applies over here....in fact many folk over here drive over the border for a day , and then get an extra 6 months without re-registering....Personally, I found that it was not as difficult as I was led to believe, and it is only when you get to Spain and speak to someone face-to -face at the appropriate licencing authority, that you will get the RIGHT information....It is just the same as going to the DVLA in England direct. I must have heard dozens of different stories before I got the correct information.
The answer is that YES you can take your car...just speak to the right person...there are lots of UK cars in Spain. Anyway, as a last resort, just go back to the UK once a year for an MOT until someone says you can't keep it any more in Spain without re-registering!
Good luck, and don't worry...but DON'T go to a so-called specialist....You already have the advantage...you are Spanish, and obviously speak your mother tongue......I didn't when I got here....and every day I find that a large number of Bulgarians can't understand the language....even if it's written down properly
Anyway, there is always a way.....
Cheers
Helen

Re: Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
The problem is basically that I need to go trough the Spanish MOT to register it, as no insurance will cover me 365 days a year in Spain being registered in the UK. And the Spanish insurance company asks me to have the vehicle registered in Spain.
All I need is just the technical specifications from the manufacturer so they can get orientated as there is no database they can check to homologate teh Freda.

Hi Aitami
Ah,,,now I understand....The authorities here were the same...thy got the information they wanted from the Mazda glovebox handbook, so that was my next suggestion...fax the information to a friend in Spain, and ask them to take the pages to an MOT station, and explain that you have the originals in a book, and see what they say....then, if there's any additional information needed, I'll see if I still have the name of a contact in the recall department in Mazda UK...I'm confident that you will have no problems, once the MOT station have the book in front of them....and , yes, there ARE UK companies offering insurance abroad...That's how people manage to tour Europe for extended periods.....
PLEASE don't despair...you WILL be able to get your Freda to Spain...it's just finding the right person to deal with...in the meantime, you will come across trillions of advisers that say it's not possible.
In the end, over here, I had one officious little *** who wouldn't issue a paltry piece of paper.....So I gave him 50 quid to register the Bongo as a BUS!
....he went home happy
Try what I say on the handbook, and get back to me by PM...I bet you I came across the same officious behaviour here!
Cheers

Re: Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
If you send me a PM or email with the month and year your Ford Freda was manufactured, and any special spec it has, I'll see if I can put something together.
I don't know if it'll be enough.
But if you produce it along with the handbook, it's got to be worth a try before forking out £1000.

Re: Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
Hi everyone,
First of all thanks for the answers!
Colin, you link is great, that is more or less the information I need, but I need it on a more "official" like format, but I can work from there.
Helen, what is the Mazda glovebox handbook? should I buy one? where from?
And Allans, PM sent, I hopue you can help me with this.
Keeping my fingers crossed, so far I do have my insurance sorted, as my insurer will cover me 3 months outside the UK, and I already have a company that will insure my Freda in Spain as soon as I register it and change the plates.
Getting excited now...

Re: Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
Hi Mike,
I already have my father looking for compatible headlights in Spain, the kind of Seat Ibiza that is stated in the factsheet about this is very popular in Spain so it shouldn't be a problem to find some scrap ones to change them.
I will have to put the stickers while I find them, as I won't be able to go trough the Spanish MOT until I change the lights, but I have 3 months for that, and on the worst event, I do have a "return" booked in the eurotunnel in case I have to come back and do the MOT in the UK.
I am trying to have everything under control, but it is not easy!

Re: Ford Freda Technical specifications abreviated sheet.
Hi Aitami
Allans should sort you out, and the glovebox handbook can be bought from Ian in the club shop....The info in the specifications section is what the MOT people wanted to see for their documents, as the Bulgarian logbook is very specific on horsepower ratings etc., and I strongly suspect that information is pretty much what is required across Europe, as Bulgaria has adopted a fair amount of European regulations to comply with entry specifications when they joined. One thing you may have trouble with is the VIN plate on the door pillar, as it does not comply with any EU regulations, being a sticker, and easily removeable, but the car's I.D. number is stamped into the metal at the rear of the bonnet opening just under the window on the drivers side, from what I remember...if you can't see it, let me know, and I'll take a photo of where to find it. The other problem is that the Bongo may not have an engine number stamped on it...The KAT (MOT) man couldn't find it, nor could I, but he was happy when I said they don't have one.
Lastly, there is a firm in Spain that advertises the fact that they can modify the Bongo, or any other Right-Hand Drive headlamp to dip on the other side......In no way is this possible as car headlights have lines in the glass which are there to refract the dipped beam, turning it towards the kerb....these would have to be ground off, and is not possible. The modification that is often used to try to get headlamps to dip on the other side is to mask part of the bulb with paint, so the light from dipped beam is not reflecting on part of the rear of the reflector.....and painting is only possible on non-halogen bulbs...so your so-called "modified" headlamp will be as dim as a candle. Such Firms are rip-off merchants, and a lot of English taking their cars to Spain fall for the sales blurb, but being Spanish, you aren't as daft as us English
The Seat lights can be bodged in, and WILL work, and as you say, easily available cheaply in Spain.
Anyway, there is no doubt that you will be able to re-register the Bongo in Spain, as other people have done so, but it's finding the right person to speak to at the MOT station, and physically find out WHAT they want to know. I found that once you find this out, the rest is easy....I found out the hard way here, and everyone told a different story.....as they didn't import many right-hand drive cars here....now they are bringing in quite a few 4x4s from England, as they are popular here because of the snow, and EVERYONE has the same headlamp problem.
I hope everything goes well for you, and you must keep in touch regularly from Spain ....
Cheers
