Front fan heater stopped today ,have found it ,is it a good idea to conect straight to batt to see if it is faulty.

Welcome to the forum.
Please not directly to the battery if the motor has stalled from water ingress and corroded, the usual problem, please put a fuse in line with it at least!
You will find a lot of info on the forum I would start with the FAQ the first entry is all about those sorts of problems!!
