If this is the noise you are experinencing then I dont think its anything to worry about. I agree that drop links and suspension bushes tend to make a more metalic sound when they are knackered. However, for peace of mind it might be as well for someone to check that nothing is obviousy wrong.

So did my 1st one, never a problem and passed all its MOT`s,but agree, get it checked for
peace of mind.

R.e The above...

Mine DEVELOPED the scrapie/creaky/almost grindey noise up front. I had 3 different checks by 3 different garages before i grabbed a pry bar myself whilst on her first MOT, i went to town on the front suspension, (I WAS GONNA FIND THE CAUSE OF THAT CREAK) Whilst lifting myself two feet in the air via the pry bar (ala pull up style) I noticed that the front anti roll bar clamp had sheared, hence needed replacement... The MOT guy admitted he wouldn't have spotted that,as he wouldn't have been able to exert as much pressure on the anti-roll bar as i did. (he was only a little fella). Therefore, if i hadn't gone PRYING (geddit?) I'd have had a freshly MOT'd, yet still creaky (and possibly illegal) bongo! :?

I agree Ste. I'm not saying anyone with a creak must rush out and replace their links, bushes and clamps. I'm just observing that mine seemed to creak (a bit) before I did them, and it hasn't seemed to creak since I did them. Peeps must draw their own conclusions 8)

Update. read every ones posts with interest I have been under the front end and pulled everything that I could, nothing loose, broken,or leaking and whats more it only made that noise the one day, it was more a squelchy noise than anything else, so I will keep my eye on it untill my MOT next month, then I will tell the mechanic to have a good root round, cheers all, Colin

Mine had a really good creak as I came off the first speed bump I encountered yesterday, coldest it'd been out in, seemed ok after that. Just creaky joints in the cold weather I reckon  My knees are the same.

After BDC's experience, I think I'll get the garage to have an extra special look at the next service. The front ARB bushes have been changed within the last 6k odd, but I think the noise came before and after that. It'd be nice to know if it's something to worry about or not. For the moment, I'll just have to keep using over the festive period.
