So following on from my early post- Banjo filter clean, all air channels seemingly clear, pumped air back down fuel line and problem seemed to be sorted- Bongo ran better than ever.....
.....for a day!
Now the problem is worse than ever- barely gets up hills, can't seem to get out of low gear, seems really choked, and now there seems to be an airy blowing coming from the exhaust - so I suspect that might be a new problem. We've tried repeating blowing back into the fuel tank which worked a little the second time but now nothing makes a difference.
Any ideas?

Not 100% sure but i think someone else posted similar probs and it turned out to be a plastic cap off a bottle in the fuel tank getting sucked over the fuel line.
Lost without my Bongo.

Hi Bigpaul, could there be a blockage in the exhaust? (collapsed baffle etc?) Running out of fuel can cause air to be trapped, injectors can inject fuel at high pressure, but not air! Have your garage mentioned bleeding the fuel lines injector end?
A leaking fuel pump can starve the engine of fuel too, have you ever monitored the flow rate of the leak when you rev the engine to a steady rate? Does the leak stop? (or slow dramatically slow down? I suspect so).

Hi,you said -----

It would be worth while checking the filter in the fuel tank, when you blew the line back it seemed to cure your problem.
The only thing wrong with blowing the line back,is you are blowing the crap back into the tank.
PS you could also use a test bottle straight to the pump with clean/fresh fuel.

Re: Erratic running pt2
as you probably know mine was fine then had similar problems but only after raising the rear and fitting spring assisters (coincidence I think) which ended up being a worn diesel pump......
but don't assume yours is the pump...
I tried all the usual suspects, change fuel filter, clean Banjo, blow out the pipes check for leaks, change seals....... no go....off Bongo went to Bell Hill..... I said Pump has gone..... they said "they don't go very often" so they said I had done the usual stuff and proceeded to try Bongo without the air filter (new K&N) and then without the Exhaust (new Stainless System) and checked all joints for air and re jointed etc.
Mine ended up being the Pump as I had diagnosed/thought....... Now the rotor in my pump was breaking up and delivered metal swarf into my injectors....
The end game for me was a good used pump, injectors soaked 3 times in caustic cleaner to rid them of swarf... new Cam belt kit (old one had been timed one notch out and retimed diesel pump) new drive belts while they were in there.....and I had the EGR blanked while the engine was part dismantled to do the other jobs.....You are doing the right things.... leccy bits first and now fuel.... you might have to bite the bullet and get it to a Bongo specialist
