No heating and temp gauge on H

Post by Benson » Wed Dec 16, 2009 11:52 am

Hi All.

Started Bongo this morning left to tick over while i scraped the ice, got in and no heat from blower :( .

Drove about a mile down road and gauge went straight to HOT, stopped and left it there. Hope I have not done any damage :(

Waiting for recovery to take me to garage to thaw out and put in new antifreze.

Fingers crossed

Hi Benson... It sounds like you are low on coolant, (cold heaters are often a preemptive warning of this, especially with the notoriously slow bongo temp gauge) Chances are you've sprung a leak on one of the myriad of coolant hoses, hopefully no lasting damage has been done [-o< Make sure the garage you get recovered to are au fait with bleeding a bongo! Best of luck...

If they have any doubt on bleeding the system, don't forget the members area is free to enter now, the fact sheet might be useful to them.

Good luck.

Hi there,

With luck no damage will have been caused but it's important now to be sure that the root cause of this is identified and fixed, good time to check all the hoses etc to be sure they are in good condition, flush and refill the system. Be sure it's bled properly and personally I'd get a low coolant alarm fitted asap, probably at the same time whilst it's being worked on.

You did the right thing to stop and leave it, was it making any boiling kettle type noises etc?

Could this also be a failed waterpump? no circulation but coolant getting hot :?:

Possibly Miker...No mention By Benson as to the level of the coolant .
