sliding door window come adrift - help?

The fastener on the sliding door window has broken, so that the glass is basically flapping about.
Ahy ideas? Do we need a new window or can it be fixed somehow? Can anyone help? Thanks!

Get a new fastener from a breaker's? Has it just come unbolted or is it actually broken?

The bottom front fastener came out on mine, all you need to do is get a new one and fit it.

Is 70-361A part still in the glass? there's a possibility the screw part could still be caught in the hinge clasp mechanism 72-310Y? (If yer lucky!?)

I would check the rest are not loose too!

If they are, then they are the same as the identical Ford Fiesta.

and possibly cheaper at a Ford dealer.

Thanks for all the help - will check out links when home again. It is totally broken I think - we ar left with a hole in the glass and a screw projecting from the black 'latch'.

The hole in the glass is where the "mushroom" headed bolt thing does through and the screw fits into that.

Jaylee - thanks so much for this link which I've been able to take a look at now I'm back home; we now know how the thing fits together! Will take a look tomorrow when we have daylight to work by and see exactly what's broken/missing. Thanks again.

This is a small enough part for one of the breakers to post it to you very quuickly, and should be simple to fit.

Make sure you still have the rubber grommet too..? part number 70-525. (They normally stay stuck to the window hole.) There should be two of them either side of the window glass, otherwise no matter how hard you tighten up the bolt it will always appear loose!
... I think from memory, they only tighten up so far anyway to protect the glass..?!

I took all mine out & repainted em back in the spring along with the wiper arms, they were looking more than a little tired!

In fact i noticed the paint coming off the bolt heads & rust scoring down the windows on some of the newer Ford KA's.. The Bongo/Freda bolts are more like an alloy & don't seem to cause this problem with the rust..? So bearing in mind that the bolt is some sort of alloy, be careful on the tightening up!!??

Thanks so much to everyone - we have at last been able to get a proper look at the problem, take the window apart and put it all back together, and all is well. We have the grommets safe and sound jaylee! It will be so nice to drive around without that ominous rattle and the ornamental gaffer tape decorations...
