Leisure Battery problem

Post by billythefist » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:01 pm

Can anyone identify the thick blue cable with a red stripe from the leisure battery going into the loom please.
This has the 80 amp fuse at the other end.
Any ideas appreciated as we are working on it at the mo but are short of time!!!!!!!
thanks

The vehicle didn't have a high power sound system fitted previously did it ? 80 Amps even from a leisure battery is rather a high rating!! Which wiring loom does this Blue/red wire go into ? Normally Blue/red is permanent +12 volt supply, but that isn't always the case.

Blue/red is used from the 100 Amp Main fuse to the second fuse box, the 60 Amp IG fuse is also B/R to the Ignition switch.

All battery voltages and fuse voltages are correct so far.

Just a thought has someone moved the batteries around ? Or switched the Main battery wiring over to the nearside where normally its the L/B rather than the Starter battery ? I can't think that the normal wiring would reach that far!

Been over to have a look, it's a winter-pack Bongo.
The fuse blowing is to the glow plugs, they're the short ones, and the bus-bar looks like it's shorting to the fuel pipe.

Hopefully will be sorted quickly.

Ah ha :!:  useful to know. I haven't seen any info on the Winter Pack in the wiring manuals so it sounds like the treat it as an add-on I wonder what other wiring changes they have made and how they arrange the charging for the second battery as its doesn't sound like they are simply paralleled up in that case :?:
