I bought a set of Pioneer 8x6 speakers as recommended by Uplands in Bristol, but when I tried to fit them discovered that they do not fit the door panel. I'm going to need to cut quite a bit of the door away and drill some holes for screws to mount the speakers. Not sure I want to get involved in doing this....
So, can anyone recommend a set of decent speakers that will fit without carrying out any alterations? Seems like 8x6 is too big.
And, how easy is it to fit a set of speakers in the rear? Although there are screws in the rear grills, they dont seem to want to come off even when the 4 screws are removed, so I'm not sure if there are proper mountings and maybe wires in place behind.
thanks
Stu

First welcome to the forum
As to sizes see this thread.
For rear speakers see this one.
The main thing is you can't remove the grills as they are held by plastic rivets (well you can but you then have to re-fix the broken rivets from the inside or glue them back on !), you have to remove the side panel and mount the speaker behind.

Thanks. Looks like I've bought myself of rear speakers in that case!
I'll get some 6x6s for the front and fit them myself.

I initially purchased some 13cm ones for the front, which sounded awful - lacked any bass oomph. I ended up with some Pioneer 17cm speakers with a round chassis. This required a custom made door insert and was close on tollerance, but sounds a lot better. I did post on a thread about it, but you'll have to do a search.

I've got
Alpine SXE-1325S (5" round) for the front and for the back I bought Alpine SXE-5725S (5" x 7" oval ones).
They were recommended by another forum member in another post on here and although I got an auto-electrician to fit them, I am assured that they were an easy job. Obviously your speakers depend on what sound you want to come out of them, but they certainly serve our purposes very well.
