Coolant Alarm
I've just fitted a leisure battery and a Willinton spilt charge and now my coolant alarm is playing up - perhaps connected?

possible that the coolant alarm may have been fitted to the original wires from the fuse box that you have connected the willinton kit to. fuses 1,6,7,8. and maybe disturbed the wiring or a bad fuse connection on the coolant alarm.

Thanks daveblueozzie - Initially I thought it may be a bad earth, but that looks ok; I'll trace the rest of the wiring later.

Hi,check the wiring on the header(expansion)tank,you may have disturbed them when you were fitting the battery in position.

I had the same problem. From memory the instructions on the leisure battery kit tells you to use Fuse 7 for the electric blinds. However this was the fuse ADS had used for my coolant alarm. Went back to them and think they just made some changes to fuse box layout. Is the coolant alarm fitted to the leisure battery, the reason im asking is, my aldi radio seems to be draining the LB. dunno what you have fitted but if the LB is being drained, and the coolant alarm is fitted to the LB then the alarm will lose power and not work properly.

daveblueozzie - yes the coolant alarm is fitted to the LB (re-wired using Willington system) and my radio seems to be draining the battery...

When I fitted the Willinton kit my coolant alarm started acting differently too. If I remember correctly I just moved the coolant alarm feed back to the starter battery rather than the LB and it was sorted. Don't know why the radio is draining the LB though
. Interesting 2 radios doing the same thing too.

Well after spending an excellent afternoon with Mr and Mrs hembramacho watching the rugby (the result of which pleased none of us...) I thought I'd give you an update:
I relocated the live feed for the Haydn alarm from fuse #8 to fuse #15 i.e. one which is not connected to the Willinton patched cables and the alarm now works fine. I suspect the fault was due entirely to a drained/draining LB caused by my new Aldi stereo. Is it a case of a new stereo then; or a remote switch?

Pretty sure its my Aldi radio now which is draining the battery
I'm going to keep the radio but I imagine I'll need to put a switch on the ignition live feed. Can anyone advise of (a) a type of switch which will fit the blanks in the dash and, (b) what colour is the ignition live in the loom?

According to this : http://www.nexxia.co.uk/More_Information/ISO_wiring.htm, Pin 4 is the ignition (switched 12v), and Pin 7 is the permanent 12v.
If I am reading your posts right, then your stereo is wired to your leisure battery by means of a Willinton kit feeding Fuse 8 directly.You could feed that line of the Willinton kit to a switch, and the output side of the new switch to Fuse 8 where you currently have the Willinton wiring plugged in you will be able to prevent the 'Aldi Special' from draining your battery. However, I'm not sure if this will mean you lose your stored radio stations etc.
Thinking this through more - In a 'normal' single battery set-up, the ignition key switches the power off to pin 4 on the ISO harness. You are just looking to mimic this with a separate switch since the power is coming from the LB. Without this, the Aldi special is being switched off by using the power button on the front, and clearly this doesn't kill power properly.
I am almost in the same situation as you - I have an Aldi Special, and a Willinton kit - but no LB fitted, and the Willinton kit isn't plugged in anywhere - yet.

I've also got my suspicions about the aldi radio draining the LB, and was quite happy to put a switch inline to kill the power. Initially, I wasn't too worried about losing the settings until I thought about it some more. The USP of this radio is the addition of bluetooth for such a cheap unit. Take away the bluetooth, and the stereo's not as attractive as some others around the same price point. I've not tested this, but my guess is that if you kill the power and lose the radio settings, you'll also lose the bluetooth settings. You'll need to pair the phone and stereo every time you power it up. On that basis, I think I'm going to return the stereo for a refund (once I can prove beyond doubt in my mind that it really is draining the battery)

But, if you wire a switch into the line to Pin 4 of the ISO 'A' connector you will only interrupt the main power, and the memory etc (and Bluetooth pairing) will be retained.
However, you will need to reset the unit fairly regularly when it locks up - and that will drop the bluetooth pairing.
On the plus side though, I just ask my phone to re-pair, and it happens pretty much instantly.
