Grr.... not starting

Guys n Gals.... Scenario....

Bongo Started and ran fine on Thursday to take the "olds" weekly shopping, PM on Thursday, raised the rear of the Bongo to fit spring assisters ,job done. Then went to go to the post office, Bongo started and went 200 yards....... stopped, got started and running rough and crept home put in drive, went to get fuel filter, none in stock so ordered for Friday 09:00.

Friday....fitted new filter and filled with Diesel, started of sorts and was leaking like a tap from the usual rear plate, (neighbour saw it to and said "air getting in there") so killed engine and sourced new seals from Club shop.

Saturday... Fitted seals as per fact sheet and Jap site info (same as Dandys excellent post)..... non starter but low battery

Sunday..... Blew inlet to Fuel filter from Tank....blew clear,sucked up from tank....all ok.
Removed filter, checked for diesel....all full..... checked banjo.....all clean....
Tried to start....err Nope.....5 times and still nothing nada.....

Ideas........tips please.....

Just for the record....... new glow plugs,relay,K&N air filter,Fuel filter,Stainless exhaust,recent Oil Change............
Any Ideas or is the Pump shot...?........ just supposed to in Holland on Friday.....
If it is the pump......anyone fitted one?

have you tried it without the airfilter or cover long shot be may be a blockage

Loosen a fuel pipe to an injector, to check if the fuel is being pumped. If not, pump is suspect.

Yep........no fuel....... ......... neighbour checking the leccy bits of the pump..... in case....

Sorry, I haven't done a lot apart from change the fuel filter on the Bongo, but on my diesel Landy, I had incredible problems like that, and I seem to remember that to bleed the system, you had to crank the engine with the output from the fuel pump , say no 1 fuel delivery pipe, undone VERY slightly at the pump end, and repeat the process at the connection to the injector...so, when fuel comes out, you have bled the system....It may not be the same on the Bongo?...but the Landy was a pig...it needed the whole system renewed apart from the diesel pump itself. It is always possible that you have dislodged something when doing the pump, and need it re-timed....I pray that isn't the case

looking like a new pump engine turns over but no fuel comes through, glow plugs are working etc. - fuel is at the filter and at the pump but not at the engine side......just need to find a garage to pick up and fix or a mobile mechanic to come to me...oh well looks like my Holland trip is off....

Anyone know of a good garage....... they would have to collect or visit me....

Hi,in doubt,remove solenoid,remove plunger and spring,refit solenoid minus these parts and try it.

Neighbour tested with meter....and it worked that way....unless the mechanical way of testing is better

Hi,a meter will only tell you that you have power at the Sol,it wont tell you if the Sol is operating properly.

I have had a few occasions where the rubber seal has came adrift from the plunger,etc,etc,etc.

I'll give that a try......... grrrr no spanner to fit the damn thing

Sounds like I have a similar if not identical problem.
Leaking seal on the pump.
Undid the mounting bolts twisted the pump round, got access to the plate.
Changed the seal.
Put everything back and......... no go.

Foot down on the throttle and a full battery of turning over and nothing.
Dropped a couple of fuel lines off to see and nothing comes out.

Is there a bleed bolt/valve etc?
On my marine diesel I have to bleed the fuel system but I can't see anywhere obvious on this pump.

The pump was fine two days ago, all I've done is change the seal.
I assume that the position of the pump is a timing issue and shouldn't effect the actual pumping performance even if I've not got it back spot on.
