What Leisure Battery

Post by dandemann8 » Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:34 pm

Hi, having sourced a Willinton kit I'm not sure which battery I need to complete my leisure battery set-up. Do I require a particular make and size or will almost any do the job :?: I'm sure this as been answered before but I can't find it anywhere :( .

Thanks

Duncan.

Hi Duncan ,it depends on what battery tray you have under the bonnet, if it an original Mazda tray then there are only certain sizes that fit, if its a willinton battery tray then you can fit anything up to a 110 amp battery, i have a Bosch 110. its a tight fit but it does fit.
it is better if you get a leisure battery rather than a normal one.

A leisure battery can be run quite low with no detriment to the battery , a normal battery will be damaged very soon after a few run flats.
Shop around for a LB i got mine from Costco for around £75 but there are cheaper ones and you can get them delivered.

I got a Wetline brand......110Ah Marine/Leisure Battery (marketed by Unipart) for £69 so as DBO says look around the £70 to £80 mark....... halfrauds will sting you for £150 for a 110Ah LB... [-X [-X

Go to a Caravan dealer and take a look as it's end of season......might be a bargain to be had

Hi DBO,

Did you get a Bosch110Ah LB from Costco for that price? That's sounds a good deal!

Dandeman, the more ampere hours means the longer it will run before needing a charge. A leisure battery will discharge to a low-level, and recover, better than a starter battery of the same ampere-hour rating.
