electrical problem self inflicted FIXED

Post by carlod » Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:08 pm

hi all Whilst fitting a new stereo to my sgl5 I seem to have been able to loose power to the central locking, interior front lights & you guessed it the stereo as well.everything else is working fine... also on the dash the glow plug light is constantly flashing & i dont have a volt meter to hand to interpret it

when i wired up the stereo before pushing all the wires in i checked that it was working fine ,but locating it seems to have done something.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi there,

Have you checked the fuses, these may all run from the same fuse?

I'd also disconnect the stereo and check as well as you can all the connections you can see, and trace the looms to ensure that it's not damaged/frayed and shorting out.

Glad it was something simple. BTW it is always best to disconnect the battery first, I know I don't always do that but it does help prevent issues.

Hope the new radio is good.
