My Deflectors dont fit, Please help.

Post by Hotdog » Fri Nov 20, 2009 9:53 pm

Hi all, I have just bought some wind deflectors for the front doors, It is a June 1995 bongo,

And they do not fit, Miles out, Is there two different shape bongo front windows or doors,?

Sorry for my ignorance, But i have only had the bongo a few weeks and am trying to get to know it,

Thanks for your help in advance,

That's odd. Is it a Bongo Friendee? Are they Bongo Friendee deflectors? There are narrow and wide deflectors for that model - both fit.

Yes it is a friendee, They fit along the top, then they curve down about 20 percent further than they should ending up around two inches onto the glass, I got them from ebay,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT ,

I really dont know what to do now, As i cracked the old one getting it off,

Are there different door shapes,? or has he sent the wrong one, It does say mazda on it though and the seller only sells one mazda one,

Any help appreciated, Thanks, Steve,

Hi Hotdog, i bought some aftermarket ones for our bongo, they were the slimmer type, i had to bend them slightly to get them to fit in but fit they did, use a dab of fairy liquid on the edge to help them slip in  . Before you try this offer yours up to the outside of your windows just to see if they sent you the right ones #-o . They should match the outline of your windows, other than that they've sent you the wrong ones :( . Take a picy for us to see if you can. Good luck :D

Ah sorry you beat me to it. The ones your showing from ebay are not the same as mine  , mine slip inside the window recess. Not really sure but these could be for the bongo wagon not the bongo friendee :? , im sure others will be able to enlighten you further.

I do not think that the Bongo friendee was made in 1989 Mazda started to produce them in the mid 90's These deflectors are probably for the 'other' Bongo produced just before they changed production to our vans

I'd say those were for the previous bongo model (pre 95 and different vehicle altogether) and not the bongo you have - probably why they don't fit! :(

i dont think they are for youre bongo as before 95 they were a different shape and from 95 is the shape you will need . looking at the ebay ad they are from the older shape .

So they did actually change the shape in 1995 did they, do you know that for sure,

Would that affect the wheel arches etc, As i was also thinking of buying some of them black plastic arch kits, Was there many changes made,

Thanks for all your help, This is great, Steve.

Anything else you want to know as you get to know your Bongo, ask away. Even if it's a stupid question there'll be someone else out there who's desperate to know the answer but didn't want to ask
