Oil dipstick and rear diff breather

Hi all

I bought another oil dipstick off ebay as the one in our Freda had broken off. It arrived yesterday and turns out to be longer than the one currently in the car ie giving different readings... what length should it be for a 2.5TD?

Another query ref the rear diff breather, changed the diff oil the other week, but understand I also need to check the breather, what am I looking for and how do I clean it?

Hi,the length of the dip stick is 475mm.From the tip of the stick to the stop above the O ring.

The diff breather..just prise off the cover and check the breather hole,clean out if required then replace the cover.
