I wouldn't think so, Ian is just about to release the workshop manual for the petrol models, the answer may be in there?

Doubt it very much as diesels usually require twice as many oil changes as petrols. I wouldn't bother until at least 6000 miles, or annually, depending on your mileage.

thanks for the replies , we are considering a trip to southern europe next year [maybe] and i'm not terribly mechanically minded and would hope it could be done without an oil change abroad , it's only done 54,000 miles on a 2004 plate.

If you're going to do a lot of motoring in Europe, just change the oil and filter before you go - shouldn't be any problems with modern oils.

If the V6 petrol is 12,000kms between oil changes, I wouldn't think the 2l would be any more than that to be honest. I'm sure someone'll be along with the answer at some point.

2 litre Bongo. Oil should be cghanged annually, or 15,000 kms. Whichever comes first.

Caveat there Ian, a lot of short distance and low milage travel can build up some nasties that degrade the oil.
