tyre size?? techie stuff

Post by oldmanpete » Thu Oct 22, 2009 9:40 am

I have seen a REAL bargin set of allioy wheels and tyres. But they are 195-50-R15 (H I did not see through the window). The fact sheet seems to suggest 65 to 70 is needed for 195/205/215s. The wheeeels are ever so shinny!

Sorry, but they are probably for a car and will look silly on the bongo. Too small in diameter and will put your speedo out by a long way, and almost certainly wont be up to carrying the weight of a bongo.

They've got to have a load & speed rating of AT LEAST 92S front & 96S rear too (92H, 96H is ok - H is "heavy duty" I think from memory, otherwise it needs to be anything alphabetically higher). What car are they from? is the PCD, hole size & offset & weight rating ok? can never remember what it should be, but if you do a search on here or check the factsheet in the members area you should find what you need.

The letter at the end is the Speed Rating

http://www.tyres-online.co.uk/techinfo/speed.asp

H is up to 130 mph, which is more than adequate.

Sometimes tyres have an XL suffix, this means Extra Load but is generally rated at 95.

Edit:

Link to Load Indeces too
