Switch difference between different Bongo's

Post by Thomas » Mon Oct 19, 2009 3:25 pm

Hi Bongo friends!

I'm new to this forum and need some help regarding the electric window lifters for the Bongo Frendie.

I tried to repairt the lifters of my G/F Bongo and when I opened the switched, a small spring and a small bearing ball felt out
Great, I'm helpless, because I can't repair the switch. So I checked the offers on Yahoo.co.jp for the Bongo switches and found some, but it seems that different switch types are around. :?:

Does anyone know if their are differences between the switches? The offered switches are version SG and SGLW. The mould looks slightly different but the general outline appears similar. However the here are two links, please don't blame me for the Kanji's, it is from Japan.

It would be great if anyone could enligthen me.

Regards from Japan

Ones got the surround on, the other hasn't by the looks of it, they should all be the same. Are you sure it was the switch at fault in the first place? quite often it is the loom between the door & body that is the problem.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

They both look like one & the same, & will fit..
If the window fault is intermittent, i would check the door loom, as Kirsty says. Starting with the black wire?
All the ball bearing & spring does is lock the rocker into place.. to re-assemble pull the white cube with the arm at the top from the rocker clip, push the cube back in the contact box with the spring & bearing, then when putting the switch electrics back in the housing click the rocker down in the ON position so it clips the peg at the top..

Hope this helps.. :D

Jaylee... You are THE definitive bongo switch guru my friend! Welcome to the forum Thomas, you can't go far wrong taking the above advice! Ironic that queries come to the UK from the land of the rising sun, regarding a japanese vehicle that was never intended to be here! :D

Cheers Ste! :D But i can't really take the credit... I learned from the master...! Mikeon!!
He is the "one".. 8)
I have found that a lot of the possible switch problems may have been caused By previous "investigative surgery", when it could be the door loom..?? :-k #-o

Thanks to all for the good answers.
The cables do look alright. Hence I will try the one of the switches.

@bigdaddycain, the reason for asking the question is that I'm not supposed to live in Japan similar to the Bongo not being in the UK :D

I will let you know about the progress.
