fuel gauge

Twice this month the fuel gauge was reading just below half and then all of a sudden drops right off the gauge

to nothing at all
I have just refuelled with £20 and it has climbed up to just above the red.
I am afraid that i will be led into a false fuel reading resulting in a complete stop without warning.

I have had Bongo for nearly 3 years now without any previous problems, however i only use her once a week now, compared to daily 6 months ago

Any ideas How can i resolve this problem

Thanks Kirsty,
The thread was about a totally non working fuel gauge , mine works when i put fuel in it does this make a difference to why it intermittantly ( twice so far ) does'nt work or is it on its way out completely.
Excuse my ignorance as I am not mechanically minded at all.
However your reply looks staight forward to do

Hi there, just a quick question about the fuel gauge, is there a low fuel warning light on the dash?

On yours I think so, not on the older ones.

We have a similar problem and I'd be happy to have a go at the fix but have the problem that the side conversion is over the hatch.

I read on another thread that the owner took the side conversion out and floor up which I'd rather not do if I can avoid it.

Is there another way of fixing this earthing problem without using the hatch?

You should be able to do it by dropping the tank, but haven't heard of anyone that has done it that way as yet.

a quick clean up of the spade terminals was all that was required

no sign of corrosion to be seen

Now our Bongo is ready for Samhain up in summerzet next weekend without having to guess how much fuel i have left
