There's a handy mpg calculator you can download in the database section in the members area, just put your figures in.
The only way to get an accurate mpg is to brim the tank, take a note of the mileage, then when you need to fill up, brim the tank again & make a note of the litres used against the mileage, then stick the figures in the claculator.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

A quick search on the forum suggests that the tank capacity is 65 litres, but that may or may not include the additional capacity of the filler neck.

As Kirsty says, you need to fill it to the brim, drive it, & record the amount of fuel used to re-fill it. You can't get accurate figures by relying on when the gauge gets to a particular point.

Using your figures:

340 miles / 65 litres = 5.23 miles per litre
multiply that by 4.55 litres per gallon gives 23.8 mpg.

This is a fair consumption figure, but as the amount of fuel used is just a guess, you should expect to get slightly better value if you use the method mentioned above.

I've been using my own MPG calculator for years on an Excel spreadsheet. My first trip in my Bongo (Scotland to South Wales) was 24mpg... so I'm glad my result isn't far off other peoples. I was getting worried that mine was poor. At todays prices that is 22 pence per mile which is exactly double the cost from my 2.0 TDI car.

Time to pump up the tyres and a full service methinks.
