big daddy cain - I percieved breaking the circuit as expained in my last post,
I would never medal with an ecu, putting voltages on as dandy thought is bad news,
Also the senario with towing is one I comprehend as I will be towing a bit of weight - I have used this mod on a motor cycle used for stunts, where it revs high with very little air movement through the rad, and I believe they do something similar with hill climb cars some times.
Prevention is better than repair,
but obviously there is no point cooling uneccessary, I dont know the exact consequenses but running an engine to cool is bad too -
I think in the cases I'm used too it is because oil pressure is higher with thicker oil which can damage a screaming engine and it can reduce horse power - not relevant with a bongo - I know on some machines not getting the engines hot can cause oil to emulsify too with out burning any condesation off that can form in a sump - as well as other things no doubt.
deg c gauge, coolant alarm, silicone hoses, and a manual open ciruit fan switch seems the way to go! " jobs a good one.
(think I might look into making my own coolant alarm £130ish? seeems a bit dear for some components, although I know that involves a trick box etc. I just want an led and buzzzer with a sticker to say COOLANT.) -Yes 130 is cheaper than a head rebuild. I have seen electrodes etc.. used to sense moisture, I'm sure maplins and the like do some sort of kit.
