Sediment light

Post by surfnut » Thu Oct 01, 2009 10:16 pm

Hi guys. Just got in. On the way back tonight the 2nd red light up on the right came on. Believe it`s the Sediment light. Is that serious and something I need to get fixed immediately, or is it something I can leave for a day or so, as I can`t really afford to be without the motor tomorrow. Thanks, Bri

If it's just the sediment light, it's primary function is to tell you there's a bit of water in the bottom of the fuel filter under the driver's seat. You can easily check this/drain it by turning the large white plastic nut jobby on the bottom of the fuel filter after disconnecting the sensor wire connector, stick a jar underneath & drain it out until clear diesel trickles out.
If it's ok anyway, it could be a sign of the alternator starting to give up, especially if the charge light is on too.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
