Need to stop the airbag light from flashing!
Have just removed my airbag steering wheel and now (obviously) the airbag light is flashing constantly, as if I didn't realise I no longer have an airbag which is sitting in my garage!
Any thoughts on how to stop it?
I thought:
1. Remove the bulb - how fiddly a job?
2. Wait until the bulb goes - could be a while but it is flashing constantly rather than coming on briefly at startup!
3. Permanent marker pen over the light!
4. Live with it as it's not actually in my line of sight and not bothering me that much - yet!

if you disconect the battery it resets the computer, and it might disable the light flashing?, worth a try

I'll have to disconnect the battery to have another go at getting the horn to work so will see then.waycar8 wrote:if you disconect the battery it resets the computer, and it might disable the light flashing?, worth a try

BDC had a tip a while back for fooling the system into thinking the airbag was still there..

Get it sorted before MOT time though, they won't like that flashing light.

Didn't you get the instructions with the new steering wheel about soldering a resistor across the airbag terminals? If not, it may be worth contacting the seller? May help with your horn problem too? The instructions I got with mine were for an airbag model & therefor useless to me, but they did provide a resistor with it though, so the info should have been with it. Can't find mine unfortunately.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

That would be good - will this matter in an MOT do you think? A light that doesn't flash?daveblueozzie wrote:The only help i can offer is, i can take the bulb out when i put your white dials in.

Confused here!
Sorry if I've upset someone, but not sure what I've said?
Reading back over the post, is an MOT failure the same if you've got a light flashing AND if you have a light that's there but not flashing?
Please, someone put me straight.
Andrew
ps whoever I've upset please also put me straight!

Re: Need to stop the airbag light from flashing!
I think both, if it's flashing it'll be a fail & if it's supposed to have the light on startup & it doesn't it may fail, not an expert on that though, I'm sure someone'll be along with a definitve answer. Hence the mod as described by BDC in MM's link, or fitting the resistor which I think simulates the airbag being there.
The other think to make sure of is that you've informed your insurance company.
