2001 V6 AFT Roof position warning

Post by Billy-Burco » Fri Sep 18, 2009 10:35 pm

Hi!

Just taken delivery of Bongo no 2 (2001 V6 AFT model)

Bongo 1 2.5TD (1995) has audio beep and flashing light when roof is operated or if you try to drive away when up. #-o

New one has no warnings at all :? :?:

Is this normal? If not, anyone got any ideas as to how I can remedy this? at my time of life it is possible that I'd forget the roof was up

The newer bongo have the beeps and lights too... Perhaps somebody has disconnected the warnings to disguise a problem!

Or because they didn't like the noise, especially when pitching late at night.

Thanks all, for your replies, I did think that it should beep!!!

Now I have to work out how to remedy the situation? #-o

Grim, You don't expect me to look up when I'm walking do you? you know that with my co-ordination I'd fall over or wander off track! on the other note, 'Not Guilty, You Honor!' however! I was passing yours tonight, whilst using the company transport!! sorry if we disturbed you, I'll switch the engine off next time

Is this the same beeper as the doors when the key is in? If so check in the drivers footwell, there is a blue box about 3 inches long by 1 wide.

I want to disconnect mine, like it's been said the noise is irritating when the door is open or pitching late at night.

Hi all!

just spent a frustrating day trying to fix non beeping roof problem, still no solution though!

BDC and Doone, you were correct the system HAD been disconnected to kill the beeping and flashing warning light :(

Thanks Apole, it was the same blue box, I reconnected it and placed key in ignition Hey Presto! we have BEEPs along with the roof warning and headlights left on buzzer!

When the roof is raised the beeping stops when fully erect (as it should), however when the roof is fully down the beeps keep sounding, after a bit of investigating, I noticed the micro switches at the end of the runners if I move these then the beep stops but the roof can't be lowered???? on close inspection there is a lug on the top of the slider this for some reason is not reaching far enough to operate the micro switch on closing, now I'm stumped as there is no way of adjusting it, so I've had to unplug the connector again, alas! back to square one #-o
Cheers all!
