North West Big Autumn Bash - 2nd - 4th October 09

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

Am I dreaming or have the prices to stay (independently) at this site gone up somewhat?

I'm currently looking at buying an unconverted bongo in the coming months with a view to carrying out a side conversion with leisure battery and hookup. Having been very kindly invited to see Muzorewa's AFT last weekend he suggested that I come along to the 'bash' to look at other converted Bongos to get an idea of what options I have! Since I'm starting with a blank canvas it'd be nice to see what options I have so I can decide what bits would be nice and what bits are essential!!! The only 'must have' at the moment is the AFT... at 6ft 2" I think a tintop would be a disaster for my posture! :)

I do hope you don't mind a non-bongoist walking around and pestering owners with questions???? [-o<

Don't worry - plenty of us started off just like you. I met two members in a tesco carpark for a nosey at their bongos and then came to Silverdale to do the same thing with Muz - when neither of us had bongos. You will be made welcome and will leave wondering how you ever managed without a bongo!

WOW that looks amazing! I'm very 'handy' and have thought of doing a full DIY conversion myself but I need to see what's possible and speak to owners who have done this to get some hints and tips - I'm sure there are many perils and pitfalls going this route so it'd be good to be clued up before starting!!! I will bring a camera and a notepad to try and get as much info as possible!!! I did wonder where all the edging trim\small fixtures and fittings came from and how the boards\cabinets are fixed to the body? I hope I'm not going to bore people to death with all my questions!!! :?

Thanks mobilecat, Muz did mention he'd attended as a non-owner so I'm glad to hear that it's quite normal for the occasional bongo hunter to attend and snoop around!!! 8)

You'll be very welcome as a day visitor Phil...or you can come and camp if you want to.

There is a nominal £2 charge for day visitors. Please contact me on site when you arrive and I'll sort out where you should park.

cheers

No probs...see you on Friday night.

You will probably be in the rally field on Friday and Saturday nights (no hookups) but you can move to a hookup on Sunday night if you wish.

cheers

...but what is encouraging is "Please ensure that children do not disturb the peace after 11.00pm." - does that mean it's ok for adults?
