Speedo

Post by Bongoplotter » Thu Sep 10, 2009 10:22 pm

Anyone know a way of making the speedo visible in the dark? We have an inner disc fixed over the speedometer showing mph, but that area isn't illuminated from behind. Can therefore only see kmph with headlights on. Maybe I just have to practice maths and convert the visible kmph?!

Sounds like you have a problem then, it should be illuminated, are none of the dials etc illuminated when the lights are on?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

My speedo used to have an overlay mph conversion, it was illuminated from behind but it was poorly lit due to the overlay.
When I changed to the white dials I removed the speedo conversion overlay and it was made of a "thick" plastic, it was not as "thin" as I thought it would be, what I mean is that I would assume that an overlay would only need to be of a similar plastic to a yoghurt carton not like it was.......as it was like a luxury type Ice Cream carton..........no wonder it seemed dim when illuminated..........no problems anymore with the white dials......... :D :D
So it could be that the speedo is illuminated but very poorly due to the speedo conversion overlay
