had to leave the Bongo at home and hire a van to go to Ireland. Couldn't get the hose in time. Actually i am going to order a set of 4 now, need to be sure though that this includes the one i need. The offending article is the one from the top right side towards the front of the engine and it goes to a metal pipe that extends towards the radiator.

If it's the set of four larger hoses, it'll include this one, it's the most common culprit. OK i give up now.
Replaced the hoses,
Tried bleeding and the water kept coming out the bleed tube and was reluctant to go back in.
It just kept pumping out water to a point where there could not have been any left.
I stopped, drained what was left and filled up again twice and the same thing happened.
When not revving it stayed relatively level but when revving it spat out water and air but never drew the water back in as it should have done.
I kept topping up the funnel and released air from the header until it was full again in order that it wouldnt run dry but gave up after the stat opened and that bit of air came out. It just kept pumping out the water.
I suspect either the pump or the head gasket is gone, probably the latter as now when i top up the header the level slowly drops and i cannot see anything leaking out.
So who is my nearest Bongo friendly dealer who can come and pick her up and sort it out for me?

There is still hope. I realised I never tightened one of the hose clips. And the water level dropping in the header might have been the trapped air contracting. I will give it another go tomorrow.

I gave it another go but there is something wrong with the bleeding process. When i idle the engine little bubbles appear and everything is ok. Before it starts to get hot it works normally blipping the throttle, air spews out and the water level rises and falls a little with idle. Then when things start to get hot large amounts of gas come out of the funnel. I am guessing that it is the water boiling. So i am now thinking there is a blockage or the pump is knackered. If the head gasket was gone then i would smell the fumes at the funnel, and there is nowt wrong with the oil in the engine. How do i check if the water pump is working? I think Kirsty mentioned removing a pipe, would that be the one above the starter?
I thought i had her sussed and went for a drive but after 20 mins it had boiled out all the water. I thought it was also strange that when boiling the fans weren,t on. So when i got her home i tried pulling the connection off the fans' sender and the innards of the switch came away with the terminal. It was at this point that i realised that at no point during the bleeding process did i hear the fans come on. This switch must have been the cause of all my grief. Still cant manage to keep water in the old girl tho.
Should i change the water pump anyway and see if that does it?
