Exploring my Bongo

I have (currently) one query - the bottom hose, whilst not cool to the touch, is not as warm as I would have expected.
At first, I thought it may be the radiator could be blocked and the coolant not getting round (I think I am secretly looking for something to replace!!!!!) or is it normal that the bottom hose is 'comfortable' to the touch? - would this suggest that the radiator is doing its job efficiently ie. cooling the coolant??

Neither of mine have had the bottom hoses more than lukewarm when I checked them (and neither of them overheated ) I don't think the thermostat opens much - most cooling seems to be done by the heater radiators, unless the engine is under more than a normal load.

from what you both said, I really don't have a problem (yet) but intend to keep my eye on things.

Thanks also to the font of knowledge (Kirsty) for explaining how to get to the engine (drivers side) when a conversion is fitted. As you said, its easy (when you know how )

Hi everyone. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I can't find the answer anywhere else and this tread seems to be a logical place to ask.

I've just noticed that the passenger side kick panel has a nifty little cutout in it like some small cylinder or tube is supposed to go in there. A flash light maybe? I don't see any obvious wiring to charge a flash light but that's all I can think it would be.
Does anyone know?

Warning flare, most are removed on import, but it's the ideal place for a torch.

The belt coming from this appears a little slack.
Are there guidlines anywhere?

As far as I know you can only see 3 belts, 2 for the alternator and 1 for the aircon; Read both pages of THIS THREAD for advice on adjusting belts.

The belt is a bit slack - is there a fact sheet on tensioning? - how to and degree of tension (in laymans terms if possible please) - had a look but can't find owt

http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... aircon.pdf for a "how to" If it's not in Doone's link above. Not sure on tension, but as a rule of thumb, you should be able to turn the belt through 90 degrees on it's longest run. Be careful you don't overtighten.
