Spare wheel rack?

Post by Freds boss » Wed Aug 12, 2009 8:39 pm

Hi all,

Now dont know if I am in the right place to ask but now I have a spare wheel for Fred I am sick of falling over it and want something to hang it on out of the way. I have seen on some bongos like a ladder idea which goes on the back door and the wheel is centred on it. It didnt seem to have any rungs and its not a bike rack so can anyone help me in my search and tell me where to get one please. It seems to just fasten on top and bottom of door.

What's wrong with the normal suspension system under the van ? Or is this a second spare or maybe a steering wheel spare :)

I second what Geoff says, it'll go on the hanger under the bongo that the skinny spare was on, loadsa room under there Viv  Certainly wouldn't want all that weight hanging on the tailgate if you're going to use it, there's no way the gas struts'll hold it up with all that weight on it, probably make it pretty heavy to lift too.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info I thought there was not enough room under there so will get someone to put it there for me. Fred has been doing great taking me all over the place towing Thingy (Eriba) no trouble at all. Cant believe just how well it does on diesel on a run. I did think that it might be too pricy to use it often but not now am having a lovely summer best thing I did was to talk Frank into an older car. Am managing to get away every three weeks or so, its great this retirement business.

Make a planter out of it, cut the tyre around close to one bead then pull it up kind of inside out & fill with potting compost & plants - at least that way no-one can ever use it to actually drive on
