How to check levels?

Post by GrayRX8 » Mon Aug 10, 2009 2:07 pm

Do you really have to un bolt the passenger seat just to dip the oil etc.
If that is the case is it the same for all 3 engine types?

Thanx in advance Gray.

Not sure if it's the drivers seat for the v6? ,but either way it's seats up, makes it a bit of a faff to check, but it's only a few minutes, good opportunity to have a regular check around hoses etc
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Shouldn't need to unBOLT them, just pull the fast-release clamps (all of them!)

Missed that bit  On some side conversions, it's hard to check the levels on drivers side, so some do actually unbolt the seat which only takes a few minutes - 4 bolts, but as Scuba says, normally it's just 3 clips once the plastic center console has been removed (by undoing the the 2 plastic lugs under the ashtray & in the tray bit at the back)& flip the seat back.

I've not yet un-bolted any seat and have checked the oil levels and filled up the oil OK and have a full side conversion. Either use a stick to hold the Drivers seat up or rest it on the steering wheel. It might be more difficult to check the ATF fluid but not had to do that yet!

On the 2L Petrol the engine oil dip stick is under the passenger seat but access to top up the oil is under the driver side. Also the dip stick on the driver side is confusing because it's actually the gear box oil.
