Side door won't open!!!

Post by chrissy.p » Wed Aug 05, 2009 7:45 pm

Hi there,
I'm new to Bongo owning - having bought our first one a few months ago. Everything has been great until today - I tried to start it up and the battery was completely flat (an inside light had been left on). After charging battery, she started fine but the sliding side door wont open! It will lock and unlock (I can see the lock  popping up and down when I operate the central locking) but it wont open!! I've climbed over into the back and tried opening from the inside but no joy here either! Any ideas would be massively appreciated!

Chris.

Thump  a strategically placed one usually does the trick - see http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... mp#p321402

Well - I went outside in my PJ's last night and started thumping heck out of the inside of the door and......nothing - it wont budge! It doesn't even move at all when I pull the handle to open it - it's as if it's still locked!

Am I just being a girl and should i thump harder?? #-o

You could try disconnecting the battery then reconnecting..? (give it 20 in-between.)
See if it re sets...
Then give it a good thump! :D
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

You will  , it may mean you have to remove the inner door panel & have a firkle if the battery & thumping doesn't work though. There is a factsheet in the members area that should help.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Had similar problem.

Remove inner door panel to reveal gubbins.

Take torch and long piece of wooden dowel. Fashion end to a flat point! Dowel not the torch.

Shine torch to rear of door and look for a microswitch. Gentle push pointed end of dowel into microswitch to prise apart contacts. They sometimes get rusty. Spray with WD40. Hopefully this will cure your problem.

Best of luck.

Well the same happened to me my door would not work. The nipper left the lights on and flattened my battery. I hit the door inside and out and no luck. Started to remove the inside of the door. What a pain. Then though the way to check the fuse and not have to remove the battery is change the fuse for one of the other ones.
Cunning plan!!!
I didn't even pray [-o<

But no luck [-X The door would not open.

So I went back to the forum for advice on where to poke this stick as it did not seem to hit anything useful and I felt I would have to take the whole side of the door off.

Then came the words of wisdom. Hit it with the force you would kick someone with that you would not like.

And more importantly hit it on the inside of the door. You don't damage any body work and so you feel a bit braver and I hit it everywhere.

I don't know which bit worked, but something did.

And gradually I am beginning to love my 2 year old son again.

He was nearly put up for adoption. :^o

So the answer is to hit several shades of something dark and brown out of it from the inside.
