when elevating the roof, blowing the 30A fuse

Post by five-alive » Wed Aug 05, 2009 10:30 pm

Hi, was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Today we were going to elevate the roof to check it was ok, haven't used it for ages. When we pressed the button to open it, it started to beep and then went off. We checked the fuse 30A, and it had blown. We changed it, pressed down on the roof first and then opened it and it did exactly the same again. The handbrake wasn't fully on, would this have made the fuse blow?

Thank you for your help.

Nope, it just wouldn't have gone up or even tried to if the handbrake wasn't on, sounds like the motors are straining, drawing too much current, try giving it a helping push, sounds like somethings holding it back, if it's not obvious, give all the moving bits a good clean & lube, check nothings loose - motors etc.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

This thread may throw you some pointers - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... oof+motors - mrsam seems to be a bit of a roof expert now - may be worth a pm?
