Eh, No don't worry too much I did the same set mine at 4.5 which seems to be the general setting. My temp gauge sits at 1-2 oclock position moving between the two if i'm going up hills etc. At this setting it has only beeped once recently and that was sat in traffic for 20 mins then going up a long hill. I just monitored the temp and it went back down to the 1 oclock position when going down hill.
Hope this helps.

I am in Wales at the mo,go the Mason alarm at 4.5.It goes on beeping when I am pulling the caravan up the hills, and goes off down-hill.I have stopped to check the coolant level twice and there is not a drop of coolant gone. When I am not towing the caravan it never murmurs,I think a bit of fine tuning is necessary here(I think!!)Any info please. :?

When i tow my little caravan it does set the alarm off every now and then (usually up hills), i have mine set at just a tad under 5, this seems the best setting for mine.

i think you were asking the earlier post Kirsty but i will answer as well, the needle does go from about 1 pm to close to the red line when towing, i then switch my scavenger fans on to cool the engine. This does bring the engine temp down very quickly, and the temp gauge does come down as well.

I was, but still useful info  be interesting to know what that equates to in terms of actual temperature, but then I don't expect there's too many peeps with a Mason & a TM2 to give a readout towing caravans up hills

The needle moves about quarter inch or so to the right of 1 o`clock Kirsty. That`s a good idea to be able to switch the scavenger fan on,I was switching the heater fan on to try and cool the temp.Is there a post on here to show how to wire the scavenger fan to manually switch it on?

I've set mine at 4.5, needle sits at 1pm ish and an ebay thermocouple temp gauge gives 96 deg with the probe in the first tapped hole on the head - passenger side.

We've got a new head, stat, rad and hoses.

No caravan or TM2 though :)

Mine's set at @4.5, while caning it up the mountains in Italy, high 30's temperature outside, Mason beeping, if I remember right the needle was about 3/4 of the way over from mid to red, chickened out & used heaters on full blast to bring it down, but when I came to a stop at the top, the scavenger fan was running - only time I've been aware of it doing so, I think my digital gauge (same place as Dobby's on front of block on exhaust side ) was around 116degrees C, doesn't sound like you've got any problems eckerB (usual disclaimers apply  ).
Wasn't dragging a shed, but was fairly well loaded with a back box under fairly extreme conditions

WELL I DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THIS FORUM YET AND I ONLY JOINED THIS MORN! SO I DONT KNOW ABOUT WHICH SECTION TO USE. BUT I POSTED SOME QUESTIONS ON THE TYRES SUBJECT PAGE I FOUND.

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A MASON ALARM FOR MY BONGO AN I HAVNT A CLUE AS TO HOW TO FIT IT. MY HUBBIE IS NOT A DIY MAN, AND IT CAME WITH A SMALL DIAGRAM. IVE READ THE FACT SHEET ON THE BONGO FURY SITE BUT ITS TOO TECH FOR ME, SO ANY TIPS I CAN TELL MY HUSBAND OR DOES ANYONE KNOE SOMEWHERE IN THE PETERBOROUGH AREA WE CAN TAKE IT TO BE FITTED, AND FOR HOW MUCH?

WE ARE GOING TO DRIVE TO MONTPELLIER IN 2 WKS WITH US AND 5 OF MY KIDS IN VAN ALSO A ROOF BOX. ANY TIPS ON FOR OUR TRIP INC, FUEL, WHETHER TO ADD OIL TO KEEP COST DOWN, CHEAP DIESEL STATIONS IN FRANCE, ETC.
P.S IF YOU CAN HELP PLS LOOK AT MY 1ST POST ON THE TYRES SECTION.
PAMMIE :)
