Sump gasket.......

Post by Gert The Green » Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:23 pm

Hi,
Bingo ! Found where my ongoing oil leak was coming from.
Had a new rocker cover gasket fitted as it was a bit leaky, cured it
a bit but had a little drip-drip still.
Today i found out it's the sump gasket leaking.
Anyone had similar probs ?
Any advice ?
Diy home job or best left to a pro ?
Thanks in advance.
Mike.

Hi,

On the V6 petrol there is no sump gasket, just a sealant that is used, allowed to start setting before reassembly.

On lushprojects for the diesel it looks the same.

I had mine done by discount trucks as it was in for other work anyway at the time, can't recall what sealant they used, if you DIY shop around and find a good flexible, oil and heat resistant sealant.

Hope this helps.
