V6 Petrol, Spark Plug Life

Hi,

Does anyone know how often you should change the spark plugs in the V6. The owners manual doesn't say.

Thanks.

Hope this link helps, just had my v6 serviced (10000 MILE) & mechanic said they did not need changing, he also said they were a bugger to get at!
Regards Tony.

Thanks Tony,

I did mine for Iridiums about 12k ago, I'll pop one or two out and see how they look.

BTW there are quite easy on the V6, you just need a long extension as they are deep in the engine.

Smart cars, now they are a bugger to get at

Thanks for the link.

Hi apole, we've got a V6 and an LPG convertion :D , we had ours changed with the service when we bought it in March, i've since changed them to bosch super 4's, very easy job and they are easy to get at  I was told they only need changing at every yearly service, but their so easy to do and cheap to buy you might want to try and do this yourself.
I have a plan and its as HOT as my pants

Hi,

Do you know the model number of the bosch plugs as I only have references for NGK and Denso? How do the super 4's behave as I've had issues with jap engines and non jap plugs in the past?

Hi apole the part no. is FR78X, i thought i'd give them a try cause i used them in my kia for the last five years and found them to be great :D , better acceleration and much smoother, dont find them as noticable in the bongo as the kia but the bongo is much heavier but the starting is great and they've never let me down in the past :) . On ebay they are £4.99 each

Hi Guys,

I have an LPG conversion as well and when I got an annual service recently, the plugs were replaced and the garage owner said that he reduced the plug gap by 10% to give a better spark for LPG.
Not sure what plugs were used but I thought I would chuck in this information for what it is worth.

Cheers,

Tim

I put some super 5's into my other car (Fiat Punto) and I now get 10% better fuel efficiency. I am thinking of whacking them into the Bongo.
