Stainless steel exhaust- will it disable 'winter pack' valve

Post by Tizzle » Tue Jul 14, 2009 8:52 am

My 'winter pack' cold start valve recently got stuck shut. I managed to force it open thanks to some great advice on this forum =D> but I'm a bit worried it'll happen again if the switch is accidently hit for any reason. My exhaust is also in a bad way (rust) so I've made a decision to get a full stainless jobby fitted (all the way from the turbo).
This is my question - after the stainless exhaust system is fitted will it still be possible to use the cold start switch - or does taking away the standard exhaust remove the valve (and the possibility of it causing problems) too??
Thanks!

No problem if the valve is removed....not required.....there are a couple of vacuum pipes run to the valve to operate it....just dissconnect them and "bung" the ends with a bolt or something

Excellent - but is the valve in the exhaust pipe so therefore will be removed automatically when the old exhaust is removed or do I have to ask the new exhaust fitters to disconnect it?

It is built into the old system....just mention it and tell them to discard it and block off the vacuum pipes.
