Carrying Two Spare Wheels? 1 Skinny 1 Full Size

Post by Chigley » Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:42 pm

Has anyone tried or has experience of carrying 1 full size wheel and the skinny wheel underneath in the spare wheel storage area at the same time? I have a full size underneath and there looks like enough room to hook the skinny on as well. It would still be above the back axle on first appearence. Is the wench mechanisn man enough etc. No questions why the hell would I want to..ho ho I have my reasons. Thanks in advance follow Bongonauts

Before heading off to Morocco I put 2 tyres there (one a skinny) but wasn't happy with the clearance so took off the skinny. It was OK but would have dragged through sand.

I would not bother with the skinny tyre - they are nasty to drive with. I would use UltraSeal to prevent the puncture instead.

Why Not Put a Rack On The Roof And Carry 4 full Size Just In Case 3 get Punctured. And You are more than 500 miles from an RAC Van.
OTT i Think

Have you thought of the weight distribution when carrying all the extra load - spare Bongo tyres and both the wenches?

Will one of the wenches be sitting up front with you? Which one? Is the Scottish bloke travelling too?
Some on here use spring assisters to help keep thinks level when fully loaded -maybe you should consider them.

If you are travelling to the continent, remember that quite a few european countries require that you display one of these:

Better safe than sorry.
I think that Ian may have the signs in the shop :?:
