Intro To Newbies To The World Of The Bongo Bash

Post by mister munkey » Wed Jul 08, 2009 9:50 pm

As we have a new facility on here to log our collective experiences, this trip back in 2007, (as a few will remember) was our first outing to the world of all things Bongo. Quite a memorable one too!

Its a brief if not fairly accurate intro as to what to expect from this warm & cuddly community.

I remember being woke up in the middle of the night, in the howling hurricane Harry downpour, by Harry ,saying we have a little problem #-o , the marquee is wrapped around my bongo.
I can laugh about it now but at the time i was ready for packing up and going home. i had a bad back, i was covered in mud and the thought of our brand new marquee wrapped around Harry's bongo and a tree was not pleasant, but we sorted it and had a brill fancy dress party afterwards.
Lost without my Bongo.

I remember it well getting woken up by Amanda saying the tents collapsed, me being under the influence of stella and her friends didnt have a clue what Amanda was talking about untill I tried to stand up and go for a wee, only to find I was encapsulated in wet tent material.

Went out side to try to put up the tent, only to find a few other (most other people) battening down the awnings  , much to my relief that I wasnt getting attacked by aliens or pratical jokers amongst the bongo campers deciding to pull out all the tent pegs

this happened another 2 times during the night, when the wind and rain had blown past the morning was a sheer picture of utter disaster   , but we all pulled our efforts together and had a great weekend dispite the wether 8)

What a weekend, one to never forget anyhow

since then weve camped in more gail force winds at wales albeit not a patch on buxton, heavy snow at stainforth and the usaul downpours.

But its never stopped me going away for a weekend since with the bongoing community 8)
