Re: starting problem
do you have a standard metal looking key or is the end you hold made of plastic and thicker then the rest of the key, if so you could have an immobilizer in the key which the chip might be playing up i had that on another car i owned i don't know if bongos come with these types of keys maybe someone else can confirm this.

Re: starting problem
It's almost certainly the starter contacts - loads of info on here.

Re: starting problem
I had a similar problem earlier this year when our Bongo wouldn't start after I'd stopped for a few minutes to fill it with diesel. The AA got it going, but I think that may have been more luck than judgement. So, turning to Bongo Fury, I found out about the solenoid problem and replaced the contacts with no further problem...until today.
This morning exactly the same thing happened - drove for about 10 mins, stopped for diesel and when getting back in there are plenty of lights and power, but the van just won't turn over.
Any more suggestions...?

Re: starting problem
Battery could be on the way out. I'm having similar problems if not used for a day or two. Voltage and hydrometer readings are OK, but it starts easily if I put the battery on charge for a short while - I suspect the battery is losing it's cranking power (it looks like the original Japanese battery). I'm getting it tested next Monday, when it goes in for it's service and MOT.

Re: starting problem
Thanks for that John - I think you could be right. I jumped the van last night and it seems to be fine, so possibly a new battery in order as I'm fairly sure it still has the original factory fitted one.
