Uprated shocks/dampers
Has anyone looked at uprated springs or shocks?
Did a search, but no joy.
Mine are a bit tired & was thinking of uprating them, esp. as I've fitted RX8 alloys & lo-pros, now.
Anyone any idea of shock dimensions/compatibility with other vehicles etc?
Cheers in advance........Pete
p.s. ALMOST on the road now, tax/reg/plates TOMORROW!
Don't think I can polish anything else, now!
Hope I can sleep!

DON'T fit uprated springs prb.......you've already uprated the originals by fitting low profile tyres. Tyres are the first form of vehicle suspension, so if anything you would want to go for softer springs and stronger damping (if available, and I can't find them
) You'll probably find a new set of standard struts will make all the difference by improving the damping.

we'll be starting to have a look soon prb, as our bongo seems to bounce about all over the place and we need to harden it up a bit somehow. i'll let u know if we come up with anything
it's on a to-do list but a bit low on the priorities atm while we have builders in >.< and the roofbox hunt is still taking place!

Indigo ........ wrt roofbox, Halfrauds used to do a lovely, big, carbon fibre effect, coffin-style job a year or two back, which would look the business, on top of your shiny black number.
I remember drooling over it a while back, before a snowboarding trip to the alps, not cheap though (are they ever?).
Maybe worth a phonecall to head office?

we've already been into halfords, they don't do a big enough one in the deep glossy black, i think hubs is currently looking at 2 long thin ones if that makes any sense? we've had a quote from our sprayer to spray one to match the paint he used on the bongo, but it worries me that the boxes aren't rigid and that it'd crack and flake off hence we're looking for shiny black ones! heheprb007 wrote:Indigo ........ wrt roofbox, Halfrauds used to do a lovely, big, carbon fibre effect, coffin-style job a year or two back, which would look the business, on top of your shiny black number.

we've got a nice set of roofbars, just need them adjusted slightly as we want them to sit nice and close to the roof without actually being on it, and we want it sprayed black too as they'll stay on there once we have them fitted! i know.. i'm such a tart!

It's bouncing because you've already firmed up your springs by fitting low profile tyres indigo...............now your dampers are having to work harder.Indigo wrote:we'll be starting to have a look soon prb, as our bongo seems to bounce about all over the place and we need to harden it up a bit somehow. i'll let u know if we come up with anything

rear suspension
Hi guys , as i've been away for a while and not being nagged by her indoors about the bongo i havent been spending much time on here but thats changed !- everytime we go over a speed hump even with very little weight or virtually none in the back the rear suspension seems to bottom out . Also around 75mph on the motorway she seems a little unsteady . Anyone know a good bongo friendly garage that could check her out and do me a service at the same time ? - i live in epsom in surrey ?
