emergency advice on coolant

Post by Bongo.Baz.tard » Sat Jul 04, 2009 6:39 pm

Jst got my rad in, and am bout to fill it .
Pourd water in and let off bottom radiator hose to let water out , also had clean ware out of bleed hose was gonna do a flush but is this as good as a flush .
I WONDERING WHETHER IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT TO FILL IT WITH TAP WATER AND ANTIFREEZE THEN RUN IT FOR ABOUT 400 MILES TONIGHT THEN DROP IT AND FILL AGAIN WITH IONISED WATER FIX .
OR is it flushed enough to fill with ionised mix .
REASON. for bad typing and wanting a quick reply , im off to montrose in about 1 hour ago cause im sick of people iknow up there telling me how nice it is up there
yours
hurridly.

It sounds like you have not bled the system as per factsheet instructions? I wouldn't go anywhere without bleeding it first if I were you. If you have de-ionised water you should use it -- then there's no need to open the cooling system again later. It'll still be light enough at 11pm to appreciate the view -- so why not take your time.

13 liters is what it takes from empty to full.

I ran a flush through today then dropped coolant. Only seemed to drop about 8 to 10 approx litres judging by amount in the basin. I dropped about 2 litres from bleed hose then disconected bottom hose for the rest. This was with the bongo facing up hill slightly. Does it make a difference? Refilled as of factory method but im sure it only took about 8 to 10 litres HAD A BIT OF A FRIGHT WHEN BACK PRESSURE FROM SYSTEM SEEMED TO BE ESCAPING FROM THE RADIATOR CAP (SMALL LEAK). So I let it all cool down to find the seal on the cap had come away from the flange, so wasn't sealing properly #-o . So i started all over again. All seems well.I will take it for a run tomorrow. Barbeque duty called since the sun was out. Now ive did it (and hopefully no air in the system) it aint that bad. I would easily do it again tomorrow .
AND I PROBABLY WILL [-o<
