sediment and charge warning lights

Post by caratec » Sun Jul 05, 2009 12:58 pm

broke down last night, sediment warning light and charge light on dash.
Drained fuel filter, charged battery, all fired up and running but both warning lights still on, anyone got any ideas.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

Alternator, check the output and all connections
do you have a leisure battery?

Is it a question of resetting the diagnostics? I'm sure I read somewhere this can be done

My money's on a shot alternator.

Happened to me 18 months ago. Be careful if getting a cheapie replacement from ebay. The one I got (made in Malaysia) lasted a week before the back bearing collapsed. Ended up getting an old Mazda one re-conned for about £70.

Its been as good as gold since.

Best of luck.

I think Dandywarhol mentioned something about resetting the diagnostics By pressing the brake pedal & possibly turning the primary ignition..? :-k
It kind of makes sense to me!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
