For the last few months the cruise control has not worked. It started to work when going to the Bongo Woodlands weekend and returning home. Went out the following Monday, not working. Tried all the connections and went through the test procedure and still no joy. I found it suddenly working when taking some garden waste to the dump in the trailer.
I used the trailer going to woodlands again last weekend and surprise the Waeco worked again. I have been out testing with the trailer and it only works with the trailer electrics pluged in. I will have to examine/take apart/reassemble and check. It looks as though it may be an earth problem.
Any thoughts peeps? It is a bit of a pain taking the trailer out all the time to get the control to work.

I would agree that an earth (or rather lack of) is the most likely fault ! Check what happens when you connect pin 3 (maybe marked 31) to the the chassis of the vehicle, that is the earth wire.

I wonder if the problem is with the brake connection; the cruise control should disengage when the brake is applied - it is possible that the connection with the brake is broken or is it possible that your brake lights are on the blink and it is only working because your trailer lights are OK?

Well, the problem was that I fitted led lamps (no resistance), this caused the cruise control to stop working and as you say it only worked because to trailer lights were standard lights.
It all appears to work now.
cheers

Yes great aint they.
Shame that the manual does not mention that you need working lamps to have the system working. I tried it out with only one lamp in, no joy.

Always a good diagnostic technique, if you've just touched something - un-touch it.

Good news.

Doesn't always work; I tried to diagnose why I had been told off when I was young - all I did was touch the cake and then try and untouch it on the sofa. My mum did not like the finger prints on the icing or the fabric!
