Passenger Side Rattle.

Anyone out there had any problems with a rattle coming from the passenger side of the vehicle? not being able to be in 2 places at once (cann't drive and be in the back trying to track down rattle) I can only say that I'm certain the sound is passenger side. The rattle only occurs when on bumpy surfaces or when either sliding door or passenger door is shut. It is a sort of rattle with a slight vibration to it, as if there is a long bar or member within the door, door pillar or sliding door that is free to rattle or vibrate some how. Hope that has discribed this in a way you can understand.
Any ideas welcome, or perhaps you've had the same peoblem and fixed it.

Please help what is currently a sane man from being driven mad

it's not your curtain rattling on the rail, is it? It took us some time to find that it was rattling

Thanks for that suggestion, don't think it's the curtains as it can be heard from outside when the passengers door is swung shut. Don't think that we'd hear them from outside. But we are going to be removing the rail and curtains shortly so will be finding out for definate ither way.

It might be that a bolt on either the window rail or the mechanism has worked itself loose. If you remove the door panel you may see something hanging loose. Or the jack may be insecure in the locker.

Hi, we've got a rattle on both sides,think its either in the door or the door pillars,tried everything but cant find it,had my son in the back with half the interior panels off,he can hear it but for the life of him cant pinpoint the god damn rattle

. We've took the door panels off cause we thought it was the locking rods knocking but all seems well. I'd pay anyone who could sort this rattling for us. Any takers

Becarefull with the dreaded rattles as i have come to know them.

I recently had the same experience on the drivers side. looked everywhere for it, as it turned out it was the front roll links rubbers had gone, they are located just under the arches and when going over bumps and lumps give the immpression that its in the cab or doors. have them checked out or you can do it yourself by getting under and seeing if there movement.

they look a little like this. basically on either side of the van just inside and slightly forward of the centre of the wheel is where you will find them.

you will have two small bars meeting and interlocking with a rubber "bush" between them. if the rubber has perished you get a rattle and it will have a movement when held manualy.

Hi there,
I had a similar rattle that drove me mad for some time

When i took the jack and everything else from inside the passenger and put back somehow it dissapeared

Just a thought

Good idea,
I'll have a go at re-aranging the stuff in the jack compartment. I've had a look at the suspension bushes thing. Couldn't find anything significant myself but dont have the ability to get right under to inspect that well. The rattle is so clearly heard when you shut the door hard it must be somthing in or around that location rather than underneath. However I'm open to any ideas & suggestions. Having reviewed all these responses and highlighted problems I'm deffinatly also going to get my mechanic to check out the suspension bushes etc whilst its on the ramps at its next service.

Sounds a bit like ours, but I thought it was may be coming from the glovebox / dash area on the passenger side. Really annoying but I've not found anything loose so far. Sounds almost as if the bonnet stay is loose and rattling, but it's not.

Hurray

Found the rattle today. Tracked it down to the seat belt anchorage bolt. Removed the trim on the pillar between the side sliding door and passenger door to have a look. There are two bolts holding the inertia reel seat belt to its anchorage point vertically. The top one is small & holds the belt mechinism in its location & the bottom one is the large bolt that is tha anchorage bolt proper. The large bolt had become loose by about 2 to 3 turns. And even if you put tension on the belt it was still free to be able to vibrate and rattle because the small bolt at the top was taking some pressure and not allowing the slack to be taken up. Hence why it could rattled even when there was a passenger wearing the belt. It also ment that the belt unit being held tight at the top you could see it vibrate a bit like a tunning fork. So when you slamed the door or drove on rough ground I could hear that sort of rattle with a vibration with it.

I hope that this solves some of the others problems you're all trying to track down. Although I found this problem in this location. I can say that it does sound through the metalwork and can sound as though it is eminating from somewhere else.
