starting problems

Post by tomsk » Wed Jun 17, 2009 11:03 am

Hi all

When starting for the first time in the morning, I do not get the audible click when glowplug light goes out. However it always makes the audible click when warm. Sometimes lumpy when first starting. Is there something going wrong slowly? Any ideas please.

Regards

Mine has never clicked since I had it and I was worried at first..all those years ago, lol., but it works fine, regarding the starting, when were the plugs changed last and when did u have it serviced last, plugs and fuel filter must be the first checks as they are normally the cause of poor or lumpy startimng...unless you have a lot of cooking oil in her ( like mine) and not enough diesel.

Hi David

Thanks for reply.
The van is regular serviced, and I had the plugs checked, all ok. Might be an idea just to change them sometime.
All fuel filters cleaned and changed, including the small one under the banjo.

My van always used to click when the light went out, I did not even have to look, just listen. As I said, it still does this when the engine has had a run and warm.

If the solenoid was not working all together then I guess the thing would not start at all?

Thanks again.
