Compatible parts

Post by Richard D » Sun Jun 07, 2009 4:26 pm

Hi I was wondering if whilst people are taking bits off their Bongo's and they take any pic's of bits (not easily got at bits) They could send some to me. Reason being my mate owns a scrap yard and when he has Mazda'a in I have started to strip lots of bits out to see which parts from which car could be used (currently working on a p reg mx6, n reg mx3, n and x reg 323) I have already got a lot of bits that are either the same or could be stripped to use as spare parts, not stared on the ford probes yet. then I can send a list to Ian. Am also working on converting the intermittent rear wiper from the mx3 to the Bongo.

I have already found lots of bits and changed them (speedo cluster with fog light warning light, window switch, interior light with clock built in, rear view mirror) it's things like central locking motors, window (and blind) motors, electrical and mechanical bits that mine either hasn't got (mines a basic tin top) or would take time stripping mine down to see what they look like. I know that proton use Mazda parts and the ford explorer shares some common parts with Bongo.

Superb idea, I have a 96 tintop, car mechanics magazine did a similar thing for a couple of months and it was a huge success, if I remember right a load of ford stuff fitted on my espace and so on. Great idea.

Do not put the speedo whole cluster in, it will blow fuses  just change the speedo over.

that is correct. I used the carcass of my cluster and used the speedo, fuel guage (mine was faulty)and temp guage from the mx6 cluster then changed a bit of wire to give the fog warning light.

I've been looking for a compatable drivers side electric window switch, is there such a thing?

Always try the obvious first 8) - it's at the bottom of the first post in the Compatible Parts Thread, at the top of the Techie Section - Mazda 323.
