Can someone tell me where the actual sensor/pick-up is on the engine.
I have done a search and cant find any useful topics.
Gauge has been working fine up till now but has became intermittent, ie
It goes up to 11 o'clock sometimes then wavers and returns to non reading postion.
Doesnt move on start up and sometimes works.
Doenst work at all.
Hasnt overheated and no loss of coolant.
Thinking it could be the sensor or poor connection to it but dont know where to look.

Not a faulty-sticky thermostat then? Just a thought.
Re: Tempertaure guage stopped working
The wiring diagrams give a bit of a clue so here are the sheets for the WL-T and the JE-FE, two diagrams each the wiring itself with the connector numbers which you can then locate on the locations diagrams.
WL-T

FE-E & JE-DE

Re: Temperature gauge stopped working
Found the culprit
Under drivers seat top right of block sensor unit pin with blade connector is loose (potting compound is breaking up). By putting tension on cable is working again.
Looked in parts finder in members only section and sensor in exploded diagram only has the number 'X; next to it.
Anyone got an idea as its a "ford ranger" engine possibly available as ford part?
I will email Ian on Monady and see if he can get it for me.

Re: Temperature gauge stopped working
Why spend money on a virtually useless Mazda temperature gauge ?.
Buy the standard TM-2 from Haydn, fit it yourself according to the
instruction sheet and enjoy the benefit of reliable engine protection.
You may have to spend 75 pounds but it's money well spent.

.....and then buy a TM2 (or fit a Mason alarm as a cheaper alternative, assuming you have a low coolant alarm, which should be No.1 priority if you haven't)!
